VBOX TELEMETRY INTERFACES

We offer a variety of telemetry modules for use with the VBOX range. Each module contains a high power radio modem capable of transmitting and receiving RS232 serial data.

RADIO OPTIONS

There are a variety of telemetry systems available, employing a range of frequencies. Which version is used depends on the range over which they need to be employed, and local radio licensing regulations. For advice as to the most suitable type for your application it is best to contact us to discuss your requirements.

Each radio is supplied with a magnetic mounting antenna, and is connected simply to the VBOX via one cable.

RACELOGIC radios are used for three main purposes:

Transmit and receive differential correction information (DGNSS) from a RACELOGIC Base Station for local position correction.

Transmit 'ADAS' data between 2-4 VBOX units, for live vehicle separation measurement.

Transmit VBOX serial data from a remote unit to a laptop PC at a maximum rate of 20 Hz.

Each radio is supplied with a magnetic mounting antenna, and is connected simply to the VBOX via one cable. Download the datasheet for more info.

Depending on the type of Base Station and roving unit used, position accuracies of up to 2cm 95% CEP are available.

915MHz Radio

The 915 MHz radios can be used in the USA, Brazil and Australia and have a max range of 3500 m. The radios can be used with a Base Station to provide DGNSS corrections to a VBOX.

The Base Station variant (RLRTM915V2BS) is designed to connect to the Racelogic Base Station and transmit DGPS corrections to a remote VBOX.

The VBOX variant (RLRTM915V2RV) is designed to connect to a VBOX to receive DGPS corrections from a Base Station.

  • Transmission Range*
  • Difficult environment (e.g. buildings, reinforced concrete): 300 m (ca. 1,000 ft)

  • Open environment with antennas at ground level (e.g. vehicle roofs): 700 m (ca. 2,300 ft)

  • In view with Base Station antenna at height (e.g. building roof): 3,500 m (ca. 11,000 ft)

2.4 GHz Radio

The 2.4 GHz range can be used in most countries. Depending on the power output, the radios have a max. range of 2,400 m or 4,000 m and can be used with a Base Station to provide DGNSS corrections to a VBOX.

Link two or more VBOX units used in ADAS testing/Moving Base where measurement of vehicle separation is required.

Transmit VBOX serial data from a remote unit to a laptop PC.

All 2.4 GHz radios are available with a transmission power of +8 dBm.

  • Transmission Range*
  • Difficult Environment (e.g. buildings, reinforced concrete): 60 m (200 feet)

  • Open environment with antennas ground level (e.g. vehicle roofs): 500 m (ca. 1,650 ft)

  • In view with Base Station antenna at height (e.g. building roof): 1,200 m (4,000 feet)

2.4 GHz High Power Radio

These radios offer a higher output for extended range and can be used in permitted countries USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand...

Link two or more VBOX units used in ADAS testing/Moving Base where measurement of vehicle separation is required.

Transmit VBOX serial data from a remote unit to a laptop PC.

All P-range, 2.4 GHz radios are available with a transmission power of +19 dBm.

  • Transmission Range*
  • Difficult Environment (e.g. buildings, reinforced concrete): 90 m (300 feet)

  • Open environment with antennas ground level (e.g. vehicle roofs): 1000 m (3300 feet)

  • In view with Base Station antenna at height (e.g. building roof): 3200 m (2 miles)
