VBOX PRECISION RANGING SYSTEM - VPRS

The VBOX Precision Ranging System (VPRS)dynamically measures the distance between 2 opjects in any environment

It is suitable fro any application where you need to calculate the real-time distance between static or dynamic objects and does not rely on DGNSS. This means that the system can also be usesd indoors.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Accuracy
  • VPRS is accurate to ±2cm, which is the same accuracy as RTK-corrected GNSS measurement systems, and can measure the distance between objects up to 50m apart.

  • Mobile
  • The VPRS beacons are lightweight and compact, making it easy to transport the entire system between sites and objects. Established configurations can be changed quickly.

  • Low Power
  • VPRS Beacons can be powered by 12V batteries when wiring is not an option.

  • Dynamic Measurement
  • The combination of a variable update rate (up to 100 Hz) and low latency makes the system ideal for static or highly dynamic applications.

  • Data Logging
  • Data can be viewed live on a VBOX Touch and position coordinates can be saved to an SD card. The separation distance can be output via an RS232 or CAN bus connection, allowing for easy interfacing with 3rd party devices.

  • Easy Installation
  • VPRS is easy to install with no complex setup routines, survey installations or site control systems required.

How does VPRS work?

The VBOX Precision Ranging System consists of a receiver (rover) and a beacon, which communicate using Ultra Wideband. The rover is placed on one of the objects, the beacon is placed on the second object and the distance between each is then calculated by the rover to an accuracy of up to two centimetres.

There is no need to monitor a device's location, install a site control system, or perform complex setup routines. The free VBOX Precision Ranging System setup software allows up to 5 systems to be easily configured at the same time.

How accurate is VPRS?

We have developed our own hardware, software and calibration routines and have achieved an industry leading accuracy of ±2cm.

With a variable update rate (up to 100 Hz) and low latency, VPRS is ideal for highly dynamic applications. The beacons are temperature calibrated to ensure this accuracy in all conditions.

How do I access the data?

The data can be viewed live using a dedicated application on the VBOX Touch, which you can download free of charge. If you wish to record the data so that you can analyse it later, you can connect the rover to any control system or data acquisition system, such as the VBOX 3i, via Serial or CAN. If you are using a VBOX 3i as part of your setup, you can also analyse the data in our user-friendly data analysis software, VBOX Test Suite, both live and after the event
